Following My Dream of Designing Stationery

Greetings Everyone,

What I love most about event planning is the endless possibilities of working with a clean slate.  Taking someone’s vision, a thought process and making it a reality.  The joy, and satisfaction I felt in being able to make my clients dream come true; to be entrusted with that task, is an amazing feeling.  I have met and worked with so many wonderful clients over the past years, and made wonderful friendships that I will always cherish.

What I enjoyed most was working with my clients in creating unique stationery pieces for their weddings and special events.  You see, I love paper. Even before there was planning, there was an absolute love for paper.  It gave me great pleasure to assist my clients in creating pieces that tied into their events.  Before I knew it, my passion and love for paper design was revived, and on a level that completely took my breath away.  It was suddenly clear to me what I not only wanted, but needed to do, Design Paper.  What I also realized was that even though I enjoy event planning, it was the bridge that led me back to my love for paper.  They say if you truly love something and if you set it free, should it return, it was meant to be.  So here I am; living my dream as a stationery designer, and owner of Paper Dreams & Keepsakes, LLC.  I am over the moon excited!

Lisa Michelle had an amazing 9 year run, and I could not have done it without of your support, encouragement, and following.  I thank you all; each and every one of you.  Clients, couples, family, friends, and colleagues, I sincerely appreciate you.  I have learned a great deal and you have inspired me to follow my dreams no matter the cost.  As LMWED closes its’ doors, I feel truly grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to serve you; my clients and colleagues.

Etiquette, Registeries, And All That Jazz…

Etiquette and registries; the two are quite a delicate and sensitive topic.  Especially when it comes to planning on what kind of gifts you would like to receive as married couple starting your new lives together.

Firstly, just because you send someone an invitation to your wedding, does not mean that there is a “strings attached” obligation for a guest to bring you a gift. Of course it is customary and with great taste that someone invited to a lavish occasion such as a wedding, birthday party, housewarming, etc., know that they should, and with good judgment, bring a gift.

To spread the word that you are registered or have a particular gift in mind, here are a few suggestions. You can send it in the form of a card listing your registry information. This is sent along with the shower invitation, separate from the wedding invitation. Another form of communication would be word of mouth. Have your bridal party, or loved ones share these tidbits. And lastly, create a wedding newsletter or website. This will give you the opportunity to be creative and have fun at the same time.

Note: Never include “Monetary Gifts Only” or “Monetary Gifts Accepted” on the actual invitation. It adds a certain; to put it nicely; Je ne sais quoi, and takes so much away from the presentation of you as the guest of honor, your invitation and wedding.  The same suggestions above should be taken into account. When in doubt, ask your planner for advice or have your stationer design separate cards and give them over to the person in charge of planning your wedding shower.  Also there are registries that actually let you convert “item listings” into currency. Finding Inspiration for Your Wedding Day

There are many faucets that you can tap for finding inspiration for your big day. Television shows, blogs, glossies, and so much more.  So much so, that your cup could quickly fill and run over to the point of it being out of control. To limited and narrow down your choices for where to get what you need, here are a few tips:

1. Determine what kind of bride you are.   Are you a Do-It-Yourself kind of bride; or are you the, I know what I want, but prefer to hand over the task to a wedding planner? Are you a fashionista and want to include the latest trends into your day? This is very important.

 2. Once you determine what kind of bride you are, search for inspiration as it applies to the type of bride you are.  Research blogs, glossies, and television shows that speak to You.   Then choose 1 to 2 in each category.  Set these limits and stick with them.  I promise you won’t find yourself overwhelmed. 

When I started out as planner 9 years ago, to keep up with the trends, I would buy every magazine and read many wedding blogs. It was very overwhelming.  Today I can only imagine what a newly engaged bride to be must feel like.  It’s not a great feeling.  Just follow the tips above and you will be fine.

Suggested Inspiration (and non-biased at all) as it applies to every bride no matter who you are:  If you see something that grabs you, don’t be afraid to get creative and use elements to make it your own, to personalize.

These beauties are exotic and possess a bluish purple color.  Want this look for your special day?  Begin by gathering pictures of the orchids, and different bouquet styles to create a vision board.  Then take to your floral designer.  Just know that the investment for these blooms are very high, but surely worth it.

Wed&Wish Gift Registry

Wed&Wish is an online wedding registry that provides bride and grooms with option of turning physical gifts into monetary gifts. Ah huh… you read right. Long ago are the days where just the traditional registries of gifting for household needs exisited. Wed&Wish does not take away from that tradition, but gives this option to modern day couples. They work in conjunction with PayPal so the process is relatively easy and safe.

This option is ideal for couples who have already established their homes and who prefer cash to physical gifts. To get started you’ll need to visit the Wed & Wish site and create a free registry. Visit the Wed&Wish site for more information.

 Note: Under no circumstances should you tell your guests for or put “Monetary Gifts Accepted” on your wedding invitations, or any other pre-wedding paper. When ordering your invitations, include additional inserts and add your Wed&Wish registry information. It’s as simple as that.

I think this is a great option, and makes it easier and tasteful for couples desiring money instead of physical gifts.
